Breast Care

It is such a shame that no one really teaches or talks about taking care of our breast even though it is such a vital part of a woman’s life.

Our breasts are believed to be one of the most neglected areas of our bodies. We need to therefore take better care. So how can you take care of you breasts?

Here are some Breast Care tips:

·         Don’t loose weight our put on weight quickly. Weight fluctuations have an effect on the chest perhaps more than anywhere else. This means if your weight goes up and down your breast will enlarge and shrink causing the skin to loose its elasticity. Your breasts are more likely to sag because of this. Therefore avoid all those miracle diets because you will lose weight very fast and gain it back at the same speed. Try healthy weights lose programmes.

·         Moisturise. Our breasts are very delicate areas. Moisturizer is a substance that helps your skin trap moisture in the cells. When skin is moisturised it is healthier which allows it to be stronger and more flexible.  It is very important for women to apply moisturizers on the breast and its surrounding areas.

Example: One can check herself during a shower. Raise one arm and with the other hand softly massage your breasts following up, circular movements in the shape of the number eight.

·         Regularly check your breasts. It is important to be aware of how your breasts are normally. Some women’s breasts are normally lumpy, some are not. In order to detect any abnormalities it is recommended by health professionals that we check our breasts from time to time. There’s no right or wrong way to check your breasts. Try to get used to looking at and feeling your breasts regularly. You can do this whenever suits you whether it is in the bath or shower, when you moisturise, or when you get dressed. Remember to check all parts of your breast, your armpits and up to your collarbone. You might find that around ovulation and menstruation your breasts change and may even develop lumps, therefore avoid checking yourself around this period.

·         Get the right bra. Gravity pulls on our breasts. Finding and wearing comfortable, well fitting bras has been said to be the  best weapon we have in the fight to keep our breast from going too far south.  The bras have to be the right size and type. Because our breasts size changes with time and when our weight changes it is important to stay aware of your breats to always ensure your bra is fitting correctly. If you are not sure about your size, just check our bra fitting page and fit yourself.

Cute bras are great but make sure that they fit you well before you wear them for long periods of time. The type of bra you wear depends on the size of your breast and your lifestyle. The bigger your breast the more protection it needs. So the straps have to be strong. Women with smaller breasts can use a larger variety of bras. Padded bras are sometimes very popular among women with smaller breasts because they can create the illusion of larger breasts.  *Try not to wear padded bras for 24 hours a day as you need to allow your skin to breathe.

·         Stand upright. Bad posture is another major foe of beautiful looking breasts. Good posture elevates the breasts making it look bigger and giving it the right support. Exercise strengthens the muscles that support your breasts. So make sure that you do that regularly as well.  If you have problems with your posture, try to join a high-quality fitness program and seek help of a chiropractor. Also some support underwear claim to help with posture problems.

·         Wear a sports bra to exercise. Wearing sports bra is important when exercising or running as sagging will happen faster and more pronounced without proper support. A study done by a research team at Portsmouth University in England showed that bouncing (that leads to sagginess) was reduced by almost 40 percent when women wear a regular bra. However, bouncing was reduced by a considerable 78 percent when the proper sports bra was worn while jogging.
